A convicted man knocks on your door and wants to spend some
alone time with our kids, what do we say? Heck no, get out of here before I get
my bat!!!! There is no way we would let that type of influence in our lives. We
are protective, but what about those TV’s or computers in our teens rooms? What
kind of violence, drug use, and sexuality, are pouring there way directly into their
hearts and minds? Romans 8:8 says, “Those who are in the flesh cannot please
God”, the context of that are non-Christians who pursue the flesh, in the same
chapter Paul expresses that “to set the mind on the flesh is death”. Death,
flesh produces death. Paul also states in Romans 8 “to set the mind on the
Spirit brings life and peace”. Do we want that for our teens? Yes!
Let’s look at our video games, movies, music, computers,
cell phones, friends, dumbed-down reading, and dream killers.
“Our job is not only to protect them from the maelstrom of a
negative and harmful culture, but also to inspire them to be the ones who
dream. We should not be the people who blindly parade into combat against
everything about culture in hopes of changing something. It won’t work. But we
can and must create a new culture in our family that actually transcends the
pop culture so that our kids can clearly discern the difference and be wise enough
to avoid being lured in.
We must be careful what we invite into our homes in the name
of entertainment.”
Love you all,
